AWS Case Study: Tennessee Farmers Cooperative
With an aging physical DR site, it came time to make costly repairs to maintain the building and HVAC. Backup tapes were also used daily and taken to the DR site. We wanted to evaluate alternatives to a physical DR site and explore the possibility of replacing traditional tape backups.
Amazon Web Services met our needs across the board. We use a 3rd party DR solution to replicate data changes throughout the day, in the event of a disaster we can quickly restore services. We use a combination of EC2, VPC and S3 services to provide the level of speed and scalability needed to bring up servers quickly. Additionally, AWS solves the need for multiple circuits allowing us to get remote locations connected quickly and reduces single points of failure. AWS easily accommodates our existing infrastructure needs while providing numerous options as we look ahead at the next 5 years.
